Beer Review –
Appearance: Pours a brownish-red. Thin one-finger off-white head that lasts a little while and has nice lacing.
Smell: , slightly spicy. A crisp, fruity smell that’s not over done by any means.
Initial Taste: Roasted caramel and toffee flavors with a smoothness that I didn’t expect. Very subtle spices and orange finish that make me think of being in Grandma’s kitchen while she’s doing her Holiday baking. The different flavors just abound in this ale.
Thoughts: Definitely one of the BEST available now. Some beers just sing out with Holiday cheer, and this is one of them. Thank You Mr. Fezziwig and the Boston Beer Co. for making this a Season to enjoy!
A: Beer pours a deep amber-red with nice tan head. Head receded leaving behind some very nice lacing.
S: Lots to take in with the smell on this one. This is a spiced ale so right off the bat you can smell the spices that make this beer so special: cloves, cinnamon, allspice. Not to mention a nice sweetness from the malts.
T: Beer tasted pretty much exactly how it smelled. Terrific! All the spices are accounted for; hops, cloves, nutmeg, allspice. Finishes with a deep malt sweetness that leaves you begging for another drink.
All in all this is my favorite offering from Sam Adams. WHY they only release this once a year and only in the mix pack i don’t know. They really need to let this beer stand on it’s own.
I gave it a beer rating of 5
